Triple Whale and Northbeam end up on the same shortlist because both promise the same thing to a Shopify or DTC brand: one number for what your ads really earned, after Meta and Google have each claimed the same order. They get there differently. Triple Whale is a broad commerce suite with an AI operator on top; Northbeam is a measurement specialist with a premium price and a media strategy team behind it.
This comparison sets the two side by side on the axes where they actually differ: attribution, incrementality and MMM, what goes back to the ad platforms, AI, setup and price. Every fact below was read on the vendors' own sites on 25 October 2026. At the end there is a short section for the reader whose business neither tool was built for.
Triple Whale vs Northbeam in Short
In short
Triple Whale fits most Shopify brands, from a free plan to Enterprise, priced by annual GMV, with multi-touch attribution, BI and Moby, an AI that can act in your ad accounts. Northbeam fits larger multi-channel DTC brands that want measurement depth first: view-through attribution, incrementality and MMM, a media strategist, from $1,500 a month priced by pageviews. If your store sells under a few million a year, Triple Whale is the realistic pick; if you spend six figures a month across many channels and want a second opinion on Meta's numbers, Northbeam earns its price.

Attribution: Pixel and Models Against Identity Graphs and Views
Both tools start with a first-party pixel on the store and rebuild each order's path across the ads that touched it. The difference is what they add on top.
Triple Whale runs the Triple Pixel and gives the free plan first and last click. Foundation and up unlock every model, a lookback window per model, and Total Impact Attribution, its own multi-touch model that folds post-purchase survey answers into the credit. Keyword-level attribution covers organic and paid search terms on the paid plans.
Northbeam builds its attribution on device and identity graphs made in-house and its own MTA modelling, and its pricing FAQ says plainly that the numbers will not match Meta Ads Manager, by design. Its signature is Clicks + Deterministic Views (C+DV): revenue credited to ads a person saw but did not click, which no click-based tool can show. C+DV is on every plan, Starter included.
Verdict
Northbeam wins on attribution depth for a brand whose upper funnel is video and display that people watch rather than click; Triple Whale is the more transparent choice, with standard models you can switch and explain.
Incrementality and Media Mix Modelling
Multi-touch attribution tells you which ads touched a sale. Incrementality and MMM ask whether the sale would have happened anyway, which matters once a brand spends enough on prospecting that attribution alone flatters it.
- Triple Whale packages MMM, incrementality testing (holdouts and geo-lift) and MTA as Compass. It is an add-on on Foundation and Automate and included on Enterprise, where the page describes MMM, incrementality and live campaign data calibrating each other.
- Northbeam sells incrementality as an option from Professional ($3,500 a month and up) and MMM+ as an option on Enterprise. Neither is in Starter.
Both put the serious measurement at the top of the ladder. Triple Whale lets a mid-sized store buy it as an add-on; Northbeam ties it to a plan that already assumes six figures of monthly ad spend.
Verdict
Triple Whale wins on access to MMM and incrementality for a mid-sized store; at enterprise scale the two are close, and the choice comes down to whose model your team trusts.
What Goes Back to the Ad Platforms
Measuring better only pays when the ad platforms learn from it. The two tools take different routes.
- Triple Whale Sonar comes in every paid package: Sonar Optimize enriches the conversion signals sent to the ad platforms, Sonar Send pushes enriched data to retention tools such as email and SMS.
- Northbeam Apex feeds Northbeam's attribution data into the delivery algorithms of Meta and AppLovin. Northbeam pitches it as a level deeper than a Conversions API and claims lifts of up to 30%, a vendor figure.
Triple Whale also acts directly. Ad Platform Controls let paid plans change ad statuses, bids and budgets inside Triple Whale, and on Automate Moby can pause ads, adjust budgets and launch campaigns within the approval rules you set. Northbeam does not act in your accounts; from Professional a dedicated media strategist advises, and Enterprise adds the media strategy team.
Verdict
Triple Whale wins for a team that wants the tool to act; Northbeam wins for a team that wants people with e-commerce media experience beside the data.
AI: Moby Against the Northbeam MCP
AI is where the two have moved furthest apart. Triple Whale now calls itself the AI operating system for commerce, and Moby is on every paid plan: an analyst on Foundation that answers questions inside Triple Whale and Slack, and on Automate an operator with scheduled automations, creative generation, landing pages and the full model library. Moby usage is sized per plan, and a Shopify reviewer asks for more warning about the limits on Foundation.
Northbeam has no in-house AI agent on its pricing page. What it does offer, on every plan from Starter, is the Northbeam MCP, so Claude, ChatGPT or your own agents can read its data. Triple Whale has an MCP too, from Foundation, so both can now be queried from an outside assistant.
Verdict
Triple Whale wins clearly on AI; Northbeam's MCP is enough for a team that already works in Claude or ChatGPT and only needs the numbers.
Setup, Store Platforms and Contract
Triple Whale says most brands are running in 15 minutes without an engineer. The free plan installs from the Shopify App Store; the paid plans start with a walkthrough and run as 12-month subscriptions, billed monthly or prepaid with two months free. Prepaying locks your GMV tier for the year; otherwise a growing store is moved up with notice.
Northbeam's Starter is month to month and usage based, and it is for Shopify brands only. Any other platform, or a brand that wants a flat rate, goes to Professional or Enterprise on annual or semi-annual terms. Every card books a demo, and the FAQ says the price is estimated from your pageviews until Northbeam has learned more about your business.
Verdict
Triple Whale wins on getting started; Northbeam's Starter wins for a Shopify brand that refuses a 12-month commitment.
Reporting and Integrations
Triple Whale is the wider BI tool. Paid plans carry no-code dashboards, a SQL editor, cohort, product and creative analysis, segments, multi-store reports and peer benchmarks. Its integrations cover ads, email and SMS, reviews, shipping, subscriptions, Amazon and influencer platforms, and Enterprise adds retail data from chains such as Walmart and Target. A Data-Out API is on every tier; a warehouse sync is an add-on. It also tracks how a brand shows up in ChatGPT and other AI answers.
Northbeam is narrower and deeper. Omnichannel dashboards, creative and customer reporting and a mobile app; Professional adds unlimited exports, Enterprise granular touchpoint exports, hourly conversion data and geo dashboards.
Verdict
Triple Whale wins on breadth of reporting and integrations; Northbeam wins only for a data team that wants raw touchpoints to model on its own.
Triple Whale vs Northbeam Pricing
Neither vendor prints a ladder you can plan with. Triple Whale's pricing page shows no number at all; its own Shopify App Store listing starts Foundation at $219 and Automate at $749 a month. The last full ladder it published, the slider on its pricing page in August 2026, is below, labelled as such. Northbeam prints two "start at" figures and quotes everything else.
Triple Whale pricing by annual GMV, monthly billing, as last published in August 2026 (archived); the first row matches the Shopify listing on 25 October 2026
| Annual GMV | Foundation | Automate |
|---|---|---|
| Under $250K | $219 / mo | $749 / mo |
| $1M to $2.5M | $549 / mo | $1,349 / mo |
| $5M to $7.5M | $1,129 / mo | $2,399 / mo |
| $15M to $20M | $2,529 / mo | $4,199 / mo |
| Above $20M, or Enterprise | Talk to sales | Talk to sales |
Annual prepay is ten months' price for twelve. The Free plan is free with no commitment.
Northbeam pricing on northbeam.io, 25 October 2026
| Plan | Price | Who it is for | Terms |
|---|---|---|---|
| Growth | Custom | Seven-figure brands under $200K a month of ad spend, through an agency partner | Quote |
| Starter | From $1,500 / mo | Brands spending under $1.5M a year on ads, Shopify only | Month to month, usage based |
| Professional | From $3,500 / mo | Up to $500K a month of ad spend, any store platform | Annual or semi-annual |
| Enterprise | Custom | Above $500K a month of ad spend | Annual |
Three stores, priced on both
A GMV price and a pageview price only meet through assumptions. The table assumes ad spend at a fifth of revenue and uses Triple Whale's August 2026 monthly prices; Northbeam's figures are its published floors, so real quotes can be higher. LeadJourney, which prices by ad spend, is in the last column for reference.
Monthly price by store size, US dollars, ad spend at 20% of revenue
| Annual GMV | Monthly ad spend | Triple Whale Foundation | Triple Whale Automate | Northbeam | LeadJourney |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $2M | $33,000 | $549 | $1,349 | From $1,500 (Starter) | $539 (Growth) |
| $6M | $100,000 | $1,129 | $2,399 | From $1,500 (Starter) | $869 (Scale) |
| $18M | $300,000 | $2,529 | $4,199 | From $3,500 (Professional) | From $1,079 (Enterprise) |
Triple Whale Foundation is the cheaper of the two at every size, and Northbeam's floor sits near Automate's price from the middle of the range. The price is not the whole comparison: Northbeam's Starter includes view-through attribution that Triple Whale does not sell at any price, and Automate includes an AI operator Northbeam does not offer.
Which One Should You Choose?
Triple Whale

- SOC 2 on every tier
Cons
- 12-month subscriptions on every paid plan

Northbeam
Pros
- View-through attribution (C+DV) on every plan
- Identity graphs built in-house, aimed at multi-channel spend
- Apex feeds its attribution into Meta and AppLovin delivery

Cons

Verdict
Choose Triple Whale if you run a Shopify store under about $20 million a year and want measurement, BI and AI in one subscription. Choose Northbeam if you spend well into six figures a month across Meta, TikTok, YouTube and AppLovin, your upper funnel is viewed more than clicked, and you have the team to act on a model.
When Neither Fits: LeadJourney
Both tools are built around the order. That is the right design for a pure store, and the wrong one for a business whose revenue does not end at checkout: a brand that also sells high-ticket items by phone, takes quote requests, books consultations, or closes B2B wholesale deals through a sales team. Those conversions live in a CRM, and neither pricing page names one.
LeadJourney is an all-in-one attribution platform built lead generation first, B2B and B2C, with e-commerce beside it. The facts:
- Forms, calls, bookings, CRM stages and closed deals as conversions, with HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Close, Attio, GoHighLevel, ActiveCampaign, Odoo, Zoho CRM and Microsoft Dynamics 365 native. Shopify connects natively too, so the order and the deal sit in one journey.
- Server-side, first-party tracking on your own domain, live in 21 minutes, 95%+ tracking accuracy.
- Conversions back to the platforms: Meta, Google, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Reddit, X, Taboola and Outbrain Ads, with closed deals as offline conversions.
- Priced by ad spend, not GMV or pageviews: $139 a month up to $5,000, $269 up to $15,000, $539 up to $50,000, $869 up to $100,000, Enterprise from $1,079; yearly saves 20%.
- Hosted in Frankfurt. Every plan starts with a one hour onboarding call with a tracking expert and 14 days of setup support, and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
- MCP for Claude and ChatGPT included from Growth, an add-on below it.
Where LeadJourney is not the right pick
A pure e-commerce brand is better served by one of these two. LeadJourney has no product, SKU or cohort analytics, no view-through attribution, no MMM and no incrementality testing, and it does not write into the ad platforms: no budget changes, no bid automation. It also holds no SOC 2 report. If your revenue is all checkout, pick between Triple Whale and Northbeam on the sections above.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
The questions brands ask when Triple Whale and Northbeam are both on the shortlist.
Is Triple Whale better than Northbeam?
For most Shopify brands, yes, because it costs less, has a free plan and bundles BI and an AI operator. Northbeam is better for large DTC brands that spend six figures a month across several channels and want view-through attribution, an identity graph built in-house and a media strategist. Neither is better in general: they are priced and built for different store sizes.
How does Triple Whale pricing compare with Northbeam pricing?
Triple Whale prices by annual GMV and package: a free plan, Foundation from $219 and Automate from $749 a month on its Shopify listing, on 12-month subscriptions. Northbeam prices by pageviews: Starter from $1,500 a month, month to month and Shopify only, Professional from $3,500 on annual terms, Growth and Enterprise on quote. Both figures were read on 25 October 2026.
Does Northbeam have a free trial or a free plan?
No. Northbeam's pricing page offers no free plan and no trial; every plan starts with a demo and a quote. Triple Whale has a free plan with first and last click attribution, ten users and twelve months of data, and its paid plans start with a walkthrough rather than a trial.
Can I use Triple Whale and Northbeam together?
Technically yes, both run their own first-party pixel on the store, and some large brands do run two measurement tools to cross-check each other. It rarely pays below enterprise scale: you would pay two subscriptions and still have to decide which model's numbers move the budget. Most brands pick one and use the ad platforms' own reports as the second view.
Which tool has MMM and incrementality testing?
Both. Triple Whale packages MMM, incrementality and MTA as Compass, an add-on on Foundation and Automate and included on Enterprise. Northbeam offers incrementality as an option from Professional and MMM+ as an option on Enterprise. Neither includes them on its entry plan.
What is the best alternative to Triple Whale and Northbeam?
It depends on where your revenue closes. For a pure store, the alternatives are other e-commerce suites. For a business that also sells through forms, calls or a sales team, LeadJourney tracks the Shopify order and the CRM deal in one journey, priced by ad spend from $139 a month and hosted in Frankfurt, with expert onboarding and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
