LeadJourneyServer-side tracking, multi-touch models, every channel in one place- Server-side tracking of every visit
- Multi-touch attribution per lead
- Won deals sent back to the ad platforms
The loop closes in X Ads Manager. Every deal your CRM marks as won goes back to X with its value, so campaigns optimise on revenue instead of engagement.

The gap
X counts the like. Your CRM counts the deal.
X credits a conversion after any engagement with an ad, inside a 30-day window by default. Your CRM records who actually bought. The two numbers were never meant to match.
X Ads attribution on its own
Honest about X, blind to what happens next
- X credits a website conversion after any engagement with the ad, so a like, a repost, a follow or a reply counts, not only a click to your site.
- The post-engagement window is 30 days by default and the post-view window 1 day, so somebody who liked a post and bought a month later through Google is an X conversion.
- Windows are set per event and changing one rewrites past conversion data, so last quarter's X figure can move after the review that used it.
- The X Pixel fires in the browser, so ad blockers, Safari and declined cookie banners remove conversions before X ever sees them.
- Optimisation stops at the event the pixel reports, so budget drifts to the ad groups that produce the cheapest sign ups, not the buyers.
- X only reports X, so its engagement credited conversions overlap with what Google and Meta claim for the same customer.
- Spend never meets revenue, so cost per closed deal per campaign is a spreadsheet someone builds before the budget review.
X Ads with LeadJourney
One journey per buyer, from the X click to the closed deal
- Every X Ads click is captured server-side with its twclid, on your own domain, past ad blockers and declined banners, at 95%+ accuracy.
- LeadJourney counts the visit the click produced, so the X number you report on is a click that reached your site, joined to what that visitor did.
- The click is kept on the visitor's LeadJourney Click ID, so when they return through brand search weeks later, X is still in the journey.
- The lead is followed through your CRM, stage by stage, to closed won, or through Shopify and Stripe to the paid order.
- Qualified leads and won deals go back through the X Conversions API with value, currency and the twclid, so delivery learns from revenue.
- X is measured next to Google, Meta, LinkedIn, organic and AI search in one multi-touch model, so each sale is counted once.
- Spend is pulled automatically, so ROAS and cost per closed deal are live per campaign, ad group and ad.
How it works
X Ads attribution in, closed deals back out
All three run on their own once connected. The first makes real X Ads tracking possible, the second teaches delivery which clicks become revenue, the third explains why X and your CRM report different numbers.
1 Server-side X Ads tracking for every click
The journey starts recording before the X Pixel would even fire.
LeadJourney imports your campaigns, ad groups, ads and daily spend, and captures every click with the twclid X appends to the landing page URL.
On your site, sessions, page views, form fills and checkouts are tracked server-side on your own domain, past ad blockers, Safari and declined banners.
The click is kept on the visitor's LeadJourney Click ID and joined to the lead at the form or the order, however many visits later that is.
Revenue, ROAS and cost per closed deal, live per campaign, ad group and ad, next to every other channel.
2 Send qualified leads and won deals through the X Conversions API
So delivery optimises on buyers instead of sign ups.
Your CRM or shop reports the outcome as it happens: stage changes, deal value, closed won, the paid order.
LeadJourney attaches the value, currency and hashed email and phone from the record, then matches the event to the twclid that started it.
The event reaches X through the Conversions API, server to server, with a conversion ID, so a pixel event for the same conversion is counted once.
Delivery learns which clicks become revenue, so lead quality rises and the cost per customer falls.
3 Two counts, each honest about what it measures
X credits engagement inside its window. Your CRM records the buyer.
Somebody likes or reposts your ad and never clicks. Weeks later they convert. Inside the 30-day post-engagement window, X counts that conversion.
The same person reached your site through Google brand search, a ChatGPT answer or a typed URL, and that is the visit your CRM recorded.
LeadJourney measures the journey from clicks to revenue on its own, so the X campaigns whose clicks reached your site get their share, and a like does not count as a sale.
Ads Manager's conversions beside the revenue X clicks actually produced, so the budget review can see both and knows why they differ.
Your CRM closes the loop
The revenue signal comes from the CRM or shop you already run
LeadJourney follows every X lead into your CRM, or every X shopper to the paid order, and reads the outcome back out, so the value ends up on the campaign that earned it.

You choose what counts as a conversion

Lead quality becomes the optimisation target
When X learns which leads qualify and which stall, it delivers to more of the first kind, so the price per qualified lead falls.

No tag to fire, nothing for an ad blocker or a declined cookie banner to remove.
Reporting
The questions X Ads Manager cannot answer
Every one of these is a report in LeadJourney rather than an export project. Ads Manager stays where you buy, and LeadJourney shows what the buying produced.
Which X campaigns produced the revenue we closed last quarter, not just the conversions Ads Manager counted?
How many of X's conversions followed a click to our site, and how many followed a like, a repost or a view?
What does a customer from X actually cost us?
How many deals started with an X click and closed through Google brand search or ChatGPT?
How does X compare with Meta, Google and LinkedIn on cost per qualified lead?
How long does an X lead take to close, and does a 30-day window cover it?
LeadJourney and X Ads Manager
Where X Ads Manager ends and LeadJourney starts
Ads Manager credits the conversions the X Pixel and the Conversions API report inside its windows, after any engagement with the ad. Both stop at X's edge.

Keep Ads Manager. Feed it better data.
Ads Manager stays where you plan and buy. LeadJourney fills in the measurement underneath and returns the closed deals X cannot see on its own, so your campaigns are judged on revenue and optimise on it.

“Before LeadJourney, we had no reliable tracking concept for our five-figure ad spend. We were manually building spreadsheet and CRM reports, inaccurate and time-consuming. Within two days, everything was set up. For the first time, I know exactly what I pay per lead and which campaigns actually bring in the best-qualified prospects.”
Florian BuckCEO, Klickkraft GmbH “With LeadJourney we are able to track all our leads and connect them with sales and attribution data to make better decisions. In the first month of using it we scaled from 0 to 100k revenue from paid ads only.”

FAQ
What X advertisers ask before connecting
If yours is not here, our team answers in the chat within a few minutes.
Does LeadJourney replace the X Pixel?
It can run alongside it or instead of it. X deduplicates a pixel event and a Conversions API event when both carry the same event and the same conversion ID. LeadJourney's tracking is server-side, so it does not depend on the pixel, and its events reach X through the Conversions API with a conversion ID, so a conversion the pixel also reports is counted once.
How is this different from setting up the X Conversions API myself?
The Conversions API is a pipe: it moves events you already have. The hard part is having the right events. X recommends sending the twclid with every conversion and asks you to read it from the landing page URL and store it with the form or order yourself, and a custom integration needs a developer account, Ads API access and OAuth 1.0a. LeadJourney captures the click and the twclid server-side, follows the lead through your CRM, enriches the event with the value and hashed match keys from the record, and sends it as the stage changes. A hand-built setup only ever knows what your website knows, which is still just the sign up.
Why does X report more conversions than my CRM?
Because X counts differently, not wrongly. X credits a website conversion after any engagement with the ad, so a like, a repost, a follow or a reply counts as well as a click, inside a 30-day post-engagement window by default, plus a 1-day post-view window. Your CRM only knows the people who arrived and became leads. LeadJourney shows both: X's conversions where you buy, and the revenue that X clicks actually produced, measured on its own.
Does X Ads tracking still work with ad blockers and declined cookie banners?
Yes, that is the point of tracking server-side. The click, the twclid and the visit are recorded on your own domain before an ad blocker, Safari or a declined banner can remove them, at 95%+ accuracy. Ads Manager keeps reporting what the pixel can see; LeadJourney shows you the measured numbers.
Somebody clicked an X ad and bought later through Google. Does X Ads attribution still credit them?
In LeadJourney, yes. The X click is stored on the visitor's LeadJourney Click ID, so when the same person comes back through Google brand search, a ChatGPT answer or a typed URL and converts, X is still part of that journey. Multi-touch models then share the revenue between X and the channel that closed, instead of handing all of it to the search.
Is this the same as Twitter Ads conversion tracking?
Yes. X Ads is the ad platform formerly called Twitter Ads, the X Pixel is the former Twitter pixel, and the click ID is still twclid. Everything on this page applies to an account you opened as a Twitter Ads account.
Which events can I send back to X?
Any CRM stage or paid order you map: marketing qualified, sales qualified, deal won, a Shopify or Stripe purchase, or all of them. Each event carries the value and currency, so the campaign is judged on revenue rather than a flat lead value.
What about X Lead Gen Ads?
X's Lead Gen Ads collect contact details in a native form on X, so the lead never visits your site and there is no twclid to capture. An account administrator exports the leads as JSON, CSV or XLSX, and from there they have to reach your CRM. Once they are there with their campaign, LeadJourney follows them to the deal like any other lead. For campaigns that send people to a form on your own site, the click, the twclid and the form fill are tracked server-side by default.
X's Shopify app already tracks my store. What does this add?
X's app installs the X Pixel in one click, and X does not document server-side events through it. LeadJourney reads the paid order from Shopify and sends it to X server-side with its value, so an order the pixel missed still reaches X, and the same order is attributed next to Meta, Google and email in one model.
Does HubSpot connect to X Ads?
Not natively. HubSpot's ads tool connects Meta, Google, LinkedIn, Microsoft and TikTok ad accounts, and X is not on that list. LeadJourney records the X click itself, follows each lead into HubSpot to the deal next to every other channel, and sends the qualified leads and won deals back through the X Conversions API.
X has its own Ads MCP server. Is that the same thing?
No. X's MCP server manages the ad account: it reads and creates campaigns and manages event tags. LeadJourney's MCP server answers with your attribution data, so a question about which X campaigns started the deals you closed is answered from your CRM revenue, next to every other channel.
A deal closes two months after the click. Is it still attributed?
In LeadJourney, yes: the journey has no window, so the deal is credited to the campaign that started it regardless of the cycle length. X credits a conversion only inside its post-engagement window, 30 days at most, so for a long cycle map an early stage that predicts revenue, such as the qualified lead, as the event delivery learns from. The report that matches the late revenue to the ad lives in LeadJourney.
Is sending CRM data to X GDPR compliant?
Identifiers are hashed before they leave, you control which stages and which fields are used for matching, and nothing is sent that you have not mapped. LeadJourney itself processes and stores data in the EU, signs a data processing agreement, and tracks first-party and server-side, so consent decisions are respected rather than worked around.
Do I need a developer?
No. Connecting X Ads is a sign in, the CRM connection is the same, and mapping stages to conversions is a settings screen. Most accounts are live in about 21 minutes, and our team will do the setup with you on a call if you prefer.
What does it cost?
The X Ads integration is part of the platform rather than a paid add on. Plans are priced by the marketing spend you track, not by seats, so your whole team can share one workspace, and every plan starts with a 14 day free trial without a credit card.
