How Guhr Tax Consultant lifted lead quality by 54%

A tax firm winning clients through organic search, Google Ads and Meta Ads, and what changed once every enquiry arrived with the campaign that created it.

The challenge

Good enquiries and weak ones looked identical

The firm has never been short of enquiries. Its content ranks, its ads run, and around 900 enquiries come in for roughly 50 that actually fit the practice. The question was never how to get more. It was which of the campaigns behind them produced the fifty.

Nobody hires a tax advisor on impulse either. A prospect searches, reads, compares, and comes back days later, so the enquiry that finally lands is a long way from the click that started it. Each ad platform claimed its own share of those enquiries, and the firm's records could not settle the argument.

So the enquiries that were not equally valuable all looked the same on the way in. Some form fills became long term clients, others were never a fit, and without a reliable line from campaign to enquiry there was no way to tell which campaigns produced which. Budget decisions fell back on cost per lead, the one number that says nothing about quality.

The fix

Every enquiry arrives with its journey attached

LeadJourney went in front of the firm's campaigns with server-side tracking, so every touchpoint from the first ad click is captured with 95%+ accuracy, unaffected by ad blockers, iOS or a declined cookie banner.

From then on each enquiry carried its own history: the campaign, the ad and every visit in between. Instead of a list of anonymous form fills, the firm could read which campaigns produced enquiries worth taking on, and move budget accordingly.

  • Server-side tracking with 95%+ accuracy, first-party
  • The full journey behind every enquiry, from first click to form fill
  • The real source written onto every lead record
  • Campaigns measured on lead quality instead of cost per form fill
  • Organic and paid read side by side, on the same enquiry records

The channels

Organic and paid, judged on the same enquiries

  • Organic search
  • Google Ads
  • Meta Ads

Three channels bring the practice its enquiries. Organic search carries the largest share of the traffic, over 20,000 visitors a month, and Google Ads and Meta Ads buy the rest. They are not separate funnels: an enquiry regularly starts on an article, comes back through an ad, and is filled in after a search for the firm by name.

Read per platform, that sequence is three claims on one enquiry, and the channel that opened it gets none of the credit. Read on one lead record, it is one journey with a first touch, a return and a form fill in order, which is what makes the fifty that fit traceable to the campaigns that actually produced them.

That is where the budget question gets answered. Karsten can see which of the three deserves more, rather than moving spend on whichever platform reported the cheapest form fills that month.

The result

Four years from one desk to thirty people

54%

better lead quality after using LeadJourney for marketing

With every enquiry tied to its campaign, spend shifted away from the campaigns that produced cheap but weak form fills and into the ones that produced real client enquiries. Karsten reports lead quality improved by 54%.

That is what carried the scaling. The firm started four years ago at €120,000 in annual revenue with Karsten working alone; in its fourth year it is passing €4 million with a team of thirty. The monthly ad budget grew with it, from just over €1,000 at the start to around €20,000 today, and it grew because each increase could be argued from the clients the previous one produced.

The lead quality number is his measurement, not ours, which is exactly why his name and company stand next to it.
