Three conversations in ChatGPT, one LeadJourney workspace

Where the deals started, what the waste is, and the same quarter recounted under a different model. All numbers are example data.

LeadJourney connected in ChatGPT, try any thread

Where did our three biggest deals this quarter come from?

They are 118,700 EUR together, and none of the three started where last click credited them:

52,000 EUR, Steinfeld AG
First touch a LinkedIn video view. Signed 81 days later.
38,400 EUR, Alpenhof Reisen
First touch Google organic, paid click on day 11, demo on day 19.
28,300 EUR, Brekker Handel
First touch a Meta ad, form filled from an email six weeks on.

Want every touchpoint for any of the three?

Ask anything about your closed deals

Which ad sets spend budget but never reach a demo?

Four ad sets spent 9,850 EUR last month and booked no demo at all. The three biggest:

Meta, Broad DACH 25 to 45
4,200 EUR, 61 leads, none qualified. Most spend, least intent.
LinkedIn, Job title test
3,100 EUR, 18 leads, two qualified, neither booked.
Google Ads, Competitor
1,650 EUR, 9 leads, none qualified.

Want the fourth one and what pausing all four frees up?

Ask anything about your campaign spend

Set the campaign report to first click and compare it with last click.

Both models are on the report now. The quarter is 148,200 EUR either way, and three campaigns trade places between them:

Google Ads, Brand
61,400 EUR on last click, 18,200 EUR on first. It finishes deals.
LinkedIn, Retargeting
48,900 EUR on last click, 21,600 EUR on first. It closes, it does not start.
Meta, Lookalike DACH
37,900 EUR on last click, 108,400 EUR on first. It starts most of them.

Scope

What ChatGPT sees, and where the connector stops

The connector hands ChatGPT every number LeadJourney holds and the right to change the workspace. Everything past that edge is untouched.

What ChatGPT can read

Journeys and touchpoints
Every visit, click and form fill in a lead's history, first touch through to the signed deal.
Campaign spend
Cost by platform, campaign and ad set, the same figures your own LeadJourney reports run on.
CRM outcomes
Lead stages, qualified counts, booked demos and won revenue out of your connected CRM.
Channels and pages
Where traffic arrives, which landing pages it lands on, and what each one turns into.

What ChatGPT can change

Reports and dashboards
Build a report, add a column, save it to a dashboard. The Report Builder, driven by a sentence.
Attribution settings
Move a report between first click, last click and data driven, or widen its lookback window.
Confirmed before it runs
ChatGPT asks before it runs a write tool, so a change you did not mean does not happen quietly.
Only tools you leave on
A connector's tools can be switched off one by one in its settings, so a workspace can allow the reads and refuse the writes.

Where it stops

Nothing outside LeadJourney
It cannot pause a campaign, move budget or edit a CRM record. LeadJourney reads those tools rather than writing to them.
One workspace, yours
You sign the connector in with OAuth and it reaches that workspace only. Remove it in ChatGPT and the access is gone.
No logins handed to ChatGPT
ChatGPT gets one server URL, never your ad account or CRM credentials. Those stay where you connected them.
What OpenAI does is your agreement
LeadJourney puts the answer into your conversation and nothing more. How OpenAI treats that conversation is governed by your own plan and workspace controls.

Hosting, data processing and the rest of the controls are on the security page.

Setup

Connected to ChatGPT in about five minutes

Nothing to install and nothing to build. One switch in ChatGPT's settings, then a URL and a sign in.

  1. 11 minute

    Copy your server URL

Open Ask Atlas, then Settings, then the MCP tab, and copy the server URL. It is the same endpoint for every client, and the workspace it reaches is decided when you sign in.

  2. 21 minute

    Turn developer mode on

On a personal account it is Settings, then Security and login. On a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace an admin turns it on once under Workspace settings, then Permissions and roles, and nobody else has to.

  3. 33 minutes

    Add LeadJourney and sign in

Create a connector from the plus button, paste the URL and sign in through LeadJourney once. Then pick it in a chat and ask where your three biggest deals started.

FAQ

ChatGPT and LeadJourney, answered

The switch, the plans, what it may change, and what happens to the numbers once they are in a conversation.

Which ChatGPT plans can add a custom MCP connector?

Developer mode, which is what custom MCP connectors live behind, is available on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu accounts. On a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace an admin has to turn it on first, under Workspace settings and then Permissions and roles. OpenAI's own documentation is the authority here, and it moves faster than this page.

Why is it behind developer mode, and do I need a developer?

Developer mode is what gives ChatGPT full MCP support, write tools included, and OpenAI keeps it behind a switch for that reason. You do not need a developer to flip it. The server is already built and hosted by us, so there is no package to install, no key to generate and no configuration file to edit: what you paste in is a URL.

Does it work in the ChatGPT apps, or only on the web?

Custom MCP connectors are a ChatGPT web feature today, so that is where you add LeadJourney and where you use it. This is the one place the two big assistants differ noticeably: a Claude connector is held on the account and turns up in the desktop and mobile apps as well.

Can ChatGPT change things in my workspace, or only read?

Both, inside LeadJourney, and it confirms with you before a write runs. It can build a report, add a column, save it to a dashboard or switch an attribution model. Outside LeadJourney it can do nothing: it cannot pause a campaign, move budget or edit a record in your CRM, because LeadJourney reads those tools rather than writing to them. A workspace that wants the reads and not the writes can switch the write tools off in the connector's own settings.

Is my attribution data used to train the models?

LeadJourney returns the answer to your question into your own conversation and nothing else leaves your workspace. What happens to that conversation afterwards is governed by your agreement with OpenAI and by your account's or workspace's data controls, exactly as it would be for a table you pasted in by hand.

How is this different from ChatGPT showing up as a traffic source?

Two different directions. ChatGPT as a traffic source is LeadJourney naming the visitors ChatGPT sends you, so a referral out of an AI answer gets credited to the deal it produces. This page is the way back: your own numbers, read inside ChatGPT. Most teams end up with both, and neither needs the other.
