AI Attribution Engine
LeadJourneyServer-side tracking, multi-touch models, every channel in one place- Server-side tracking of every visit
- Multi-touch attribution per lead
- Won deals sent back to the ad platforms
Every chat that captures a contact is matched to the click that brought the visitor. The lead keeps its campaign, channel and keyword wherever the conversation continues, and once it closes, the revenue goes back to the ad account.

The gap
Crisp knows who wrote in. It does not know which ad made them write.
Crisp keeps the chat, the email thread and the WhatsApp reply on one contact. What it does not keep is the campaign that brought the visitor, so your busiest lead channel reports as Direct.
Crisp attribution on its own
Good at the conversation, blind to where it came from
- Crisp Analytics report first response time, resolution time, satisfaction and volume per channel and agent: how well the team answers, not what the conversation was worth.
- The contact profile holds the name, the email, the company and any custom data you push in. The ad click, the gclid or the fbclid that brought the visitor is not on it.
- A conversation that starts in the chat widget and continues by email or on WhatsApp carries no campaign into the next channel, so the source falls off at the first hop.
- GA4 sees at best that the widget opened. The lead the chat produced is not a conversion there, so chat reports as Direct or not at all.
- The first touch weeks earlier, a LinkedIn ad or a blog post read twice, is out of view of any chat tool.
- No ad spend enters Crisp, so nobody can say what a chat lead costs per campaign.
- Nothing goes back to Meta, Google or LinkedIn, so the campaigns that start your best conversations get no credit for them.
Crisp with LeadJourney
One journey per lead, whatever channel it answers on
- Every visit is tracked server-side, first-party, from the first click, with click ID, UTM parameters, referrer and landing page, at 95%+ accuracy.
- When a Crisp conversation captures an email or a phone number, it becomes a lead on that same journey: first click, last click, campaign, keyword and the page the chat started on.
- The lead is the contact, not the channel, so it keeps its source when the conversation moves to email, WhatsApp, Messenger or Instagram.
- Server-side, so nothing is lost to ad blockers, Safari or a declined cookie banner.
- The lead is followed into your CRM to the closed deal, and the revenue lands on the campaign that started the chat.
- Spend is pulled from your ad accounts automatically, so cost per chat lead by campaign, channel and keyword is live.
- The chat lead, and later the qualified stage and the deal, go back to the ad platforms as conversions, so bidding learns which conversations become customers.
How it works
Crisp attribution in, attributed revenue back out
Both chains run on their own once connected: the conversation becomes a lead with a full journey behind it, and the revenue goes back to the platform that paid for the click.
1 Every Crisp chat lead arrives with its source
The journey is recording long before anybody says hello.
Every ad click arrives with its click ID and UTM parameters, and organic, referral and AI search visits arrive with their referrer.
On your site, every visit is tracked server-side with its landing page, pages viewed and device, past ad blockers and iOS.
The moment a conversation captures an email or a phone number, from your team or from the bot, LeadJourney receives the contact.
The contact is stitched to the visit the chat started on, so the lead carries its first click, its last click and every touch between.
2 Follow the lead to revenue and send it back
So the ad platforms learn which conversations were worth paying for.
The lead is followed through your CRM as it changes stage: demo booked, trial, paid, with the value.
Cost per chat lead, cost per customer and revenue per campaign, channel and keyword sit in one report, next to form leads and calls.
Won deals go back to Meta, Google, LinkedIn and Microsoft Ads as conversions with their value, so the bidding learns which chats turn into revenue.
The return path
The chat lead goes back as a conversion. The deal follows.
A chat that captured a contact is the first thing the ad platform hears about. Once your CRM marks the lead qualified or the deal won, that outcome travels back too.
MetaConversions API
Chat lead, qualified lead and deal won, with value and currency
Google AdsOffline conversion import
Conversions matched on gclid, with the deal value for value based bidding
LinkedIn AdsConversions API
Chat lead and won revenue matched on li_fat_id
Microsoft AdsOffline conversions
Conversions matched on msclkid, with deal value
You choose what counts as a conversion
Map the chat lead, a qualified stage or the won deal to a platform event, or all three.
Conversation quality becomes the optimisation target
When the platform learns which chats turn into customers and which were support questions, it buys more of the first kind.
Sent server to server
No pixel to fire, nothing for an ad blocker or a declined cookie banner to remove.
Reporting
The questions Crisp Analytics cannot answer
Every one of these is a report in LeadJourney rather than an export from the inbox. Crisp stays where your team talks to people, and LeadJourney shows where each conversation came from and what it was worth.
Which campaign started the chats that became paying customers last quarter?
What does a chat lead cost us on Google, Meta and LinkedIn, and what does a customer from chat cost?
Do chat leads close better than form leads and calls, and on which campaigns?
Which landing pages start the conversations that close, and which only start support questions?
How many chat leads came from ChatGPT and Perplexity last month, and did any of them pay?
Which leads started in the widget and closed on email or WhatsApp, and what brought them in?
LeadJourney and Crisp's own reporting
Where Crisp Analytics end and LeadJourney starts
Crisp Analytics show how well your team answers, on every channel the inbox holds. The click before the conversation and the deal after it are out of view.
| Capability | With LeadJourney | |
|---|---|---|
| Crisp attribution | With LeadJourneyEvery chat lead is matched to the full journey recorded server-side, first click to last, with campaign, keyword and landing page. | |
| The click before the chat | With LeadJourneyCaptured with its click ID, landing page and referrer, then stitched to the contact. | |
| Support performance | With LeadJourneyLeft to Crisp. LeadJourney reports on what the conversations became. | |
| When the conversation moves channel | With LeadJourneyThe lead is the contact, so it keeps the source of the first visit on every channel it answers on. | |
| Ad spend and cost per chat lead | With LeadJourneySpend pulled from Meta, Google, LinkedIn and Microsoft Ads automatically, so cost per chat lead and per customer are live per campaign and keyword. | |
| Revenue | With LeadJourneyWon CRM revenue attributed to the campaign, channel and keyword that started the conversation. | |
| Conversions back to the ad platforms | With LeadJourneyChat lead, qualified stage and won deal sent server to server with value, so the bidding learns which chats pay. | |
| Other lead channels | With LeadJourneyChat leads next to form leads and calls in one model, so every lead is counted once. |
Keep Crisp. Give every conversation a source.
Crisp stays where your team answers chat, email, WhatsApp and Instagram. LeadJourney records what happened before the first message and what happened after, and hands the result to the platforms where the budget is spent.

“Before LeadJourney, we had no reliable tracking concept for our five-figure ad spend. We were manually building spreadsheet and CRM reports, inaccurate and time-consuming. Within two days, everything was set up. For the first time, I know exactly what I pay per lead and which campaigns actually bring in the best-qualified prospects.”
Florian BuckCEO, Klickkraft GmbH “With LeadJourney we are able to track all our leads and connect them with sales and attribution data to make better decisions. In the first month of using it we scaled from 0 to 100k revenue from paid ads only.”

FAQ
What Crisp users ask before connecting
If yours is not here, our team answers in the chat within a few minutes.
How does Crisp attribution with LeadJourney work?
LeadJourney records every visit to your site server-side, from the first click, with its click ID, UTM parameters and landing page. When a Crisp conversation captures an email or a phone number, that contact becomes a lead on the same journey, so it carries its first click, its last click and every touch between, and follows into your CRM to the closed deal.
How is the chat matched to the visit?
The LeadJourney script and the Crisp widget run on the same pages, so the conversation is matched to the visit in the same browser that started it. That is why the lead keeps the ad click from ten days earlier, not only the page the visitor was on when they opened the chat.
What if the conversation moves to email or WhatsApp?
The lead is the contact, not the channel, so a conversation that starts in the widget and carries on by email, WhatsApp, Messenger or Instagram keeps the source of the visit that started it. A conversation that begins on WhatsApp or Instagram with no website visit behind it has no web journey to match, unless the same contact visited your site before.
Does Crisp lead tracking still work with ad blockers and iOS?
Yes, that is the point of tracking server-side. The visit and the click ID are recorded on the server before an ad blocker, Safari or a declined banner can remove them, at 95%+ accuracy, and the lead itself comes from Crisp rather than from a browser pixel.
Can I compare chat leads with form leads and calls?
Yes. Chat leads sit in the same reports as your form leads and calls, with spend pulled from your ad accounts, so cost per lead and revenue per lead are live per campaign, channel and keyword for each. A breakdown per Crisp agent is not part of these reports; Crisp Analytics already cover the team.
Can I send chat leads back to Meta and Google Ads?
Yes. A chat lead can go back as a lead event, and the qualified and won stages from your CRM follow with the deal value attached: to Meta through the Conversions API, to Google Ads as an offline conversion import matched on gclid, to LinkedIn through the Conversions API and to Microsoft Ads matched on msclkid.
Does LeadJourney write anything into Crisp?
No. LeadJourney reads the leads your conversations capture and leaves your inbox, your contacts and your bot exactly as they are. Crisp stays where your team talks to people.
Do I need a developer?
No. The script is one line in your site or your GTM container, connecting Crisp is done from the integrations screen, and mapping stages to events is a settings screen. Most accounts are live in about 21 minutes, and our team will do the setup with you on a call if you prefer.
Is it GDPR compliant?
Yes. Data is processed and stored in the EU, we sign a data processing agreement, and tracking runs first-party and server-side so consent decisions are respected rather than worked around. LeadJourney receives the contact details a conversation captured, not the messages, which stay in Crisp.
What does it cost?
The Crisp integration is part of the platform rather than a paid add on. Plans are priced on tracked events instead of seats, so your whole team and your agency can share one workspace, and every plan starts with a 14 day free trial without a credit card.
