LinkedIn Ads budget calculator for the most expensive click in B2B

LinkedIn CPMs run four to six times Meta's and the click-through is half, so the same lead target needs a different budget.

The formula

The LinkedIn budget chain

Cost per lead=CPM ÷ (1,000 × CTR)Conversion rate

At a €45 CPM and a 0.55 percent CTR a click costs €45 ÷ (1,000 × 0.0055) = €8.18. At a 12 percent Lead Gen Form conversion rate a lead costs €8.18 ÷ 0.12 = €68. Forty leads a month is a budget of about €2,730.

Why LinkedIn costs what it costs

LinkedIn sells the one thing no other platform can: the audience filtered by job title, seniority, company size and industry, declared by the people themselves. That precision is why a CPM of €45 to €70 is normal and why a €70 lead can be the cheapest customer on the account. It is also why a LinkedIn plan built on Meta's assumptions fails: half the click-through rate, five times the impression price, and a conversion rate that depends heavily on whether the lead stays inside LinkedIn (Lead Gen Forms convert 10 to 15 percent of clicks) or leaves for a landing page (3 to 5 percent).

The planner loads typical values per ad format for B2B lead generation and lets you overwrite each one. Use Campaign Manager's numbers as soon as you have four weeks of data; the presets are for the first plan, not the tenth.

Goal mode or budget mode

Start from a goal when you know the pipeline sales needs; the planner returns the monthly budget and the daily figure for the campaign. Start from a budget when the number is set; the planner returns the leads, clicks and impressions it buys. On LinkedIn the second mode is often the honest one, because the answer to "how many leads does €3,000 buy" is usually "about forty", and it is better to say so before the campaign than after.

Add the close rate and deal size and the plan shows customers, CAC and ROAS. This is where LinkedIn tends to win: a €68 lead that closes at 15 percent into a €12,000 contract is a €453 CAC and a 26x return, and no cheaper channel gets near that for a B2B offer.

The B2B attribution problem

LinkedIn's Insight Tag attributes within a 30-day click window and needs the conversion to happen in the same browser. B2B buying does neither. The click happens on a phone in a feed, the demo request happens on a laptop a week later, the deal closes three months after that, and the person who signed the contract is not the person who clicked. Campaign Manager credits a fraction of the leads and almost none of the revenue, which is why LinkedIn looks expensive in every platform report and cheap in every CRM that carries the channel on the customer record.

The fix is to capture the li_fat_id click id server side, match the lead to it in the CRM regardless of device, and send the qualified lead and the closed deal back through LinkedIn's Conversions API, so the platform sees what its expensive impressions actually produced.

Message ads are priced per send; the CPM here is the equivalent. Document and gated content leads are cheap and low intent; landing page leads cost most and close most.

FAQ

LinkedIn Ads budgets, answered

The questions behind the search for how much LinkedIn ads cost.

How much do LinkedIn ads cost?

€35 to €70 per thousand impressions, €5 to €10 per click, and €50 to €250 per lead depending on the format: Lead Gen Forms around €70, landing page leads around €200. LinkedIn's minimum daily budget is €10 per campaign.

How much should I spend on LinkedIn ads?

Work backwards from the leads you need: cost per lead = CPM ÷ (1,000 × CTR) ÷ conversion rate; budget = leads × cost per lead. Forty Lead Gen Form leads at a €45 CPM, 0.55 percent CTR and 12 percent conversion rate needs about €2,700 a month.

Is LinkedIn worth the price compared with Meta?

For a B2B offer with a deal size above about €5,000, usually yes: the leads cost five times more and close five to ten times more often, so the cost per customer is lower. Compare on CAC, which the planner shows once you enter close rate and deal size, never on cost per lead.

Lead Gen Forms or landing page?

Lead Gen Forms convert 10 to 15 percent of clicks because the profile pre-fills the form; landing pages convert 3 to 5 percent but the lead has shown more intent and lands in your system with the click id. Many teams run forms for volume and landing pages for quality, and compare on closed deals.

Why does Campaign Manager show fewer leads than my CRM?

The Insight Tag needs the conversion within 30 days in the same browser. B2B journeys cross devices, take longer and often finish with a colleague. Expect LinkedIn to credit 55 to 75 percent of the leads and almost none of the revenue. The Conversions API fed from your CRM closes the gap.

Is the forecast reliable?

It is arithmetic on the three rates. With your Campaign Manager values it forecasts the same audience at the same scale; with the presets it gives an order of magnitude. Small B2B audiences saturate fast, so the 2x scenario is a ceiling.
