The gap
Patch knows which text drove the order. It does not know which ad brought the customer.
Patch Retention credits an order to the campaign sent before it, which is right for the retention side. Getting the click and the spend in, and every order back to the platform, is the part nobody ships for you.
Patch Retention attribution on its own
Accurate about the message before the order, blind to the ad before the contact
- Patch credits an order to the text or email sent before it, so a campaign's revenue is real and measured. What it cannot see is the ad click that made the person a contact in the first place.
- A contact's origin is the opt-in, the form, the checkout or the import that created it, not the campaign, ad or search that brought the person to the page.
- UTM parameters and click IDs have no home on a contact unless someone builds custom fields and an integration to fill them, and the click ID from the first visit is gone by then.
- No ad spend enters Patch. Campaign revenue is reported, but there is no cost against the acquisition, so ROAS and cost per first order cannot be calculated.
- Organic search, referral and AI search visits never reach Patch. The first it hears of a person is when they opt in or place an order.
- Repeat revenue stays in Patch. Nothing tells Meta or Google which of their clicks became a customer who orders every month, so bidding keeps optimising on the first conversion, or on form fills.
Patch Retention with LeadJourney
One journey per contact, joined to spend and to every order that follows
- Every visit is tracked server-side as it happens, before a contact exists in Patch, at 95%+ accuracy.
- The anonymous first click is stitched to the contact at form submit or at checkout, and source, campaign and ad land on the contact automatically.
- UTM parameters and click IDs are captured at click time and written onto the contact, without a form integration.
- Spend is pulled from your ad accounts automatically, so ROAS and cost per first order are live per channel, campaign and ad.
- Organic, direct, referral and AI search are tracked as first class channels next to paid, and the contact shows which one started it.
- Every order Patch records, first and repeat, goes back to the platform that produced the click as an offline conversion with the order value attached, so bidding learns which ads bring customers who come back.
Every touchpoint
The whole journey into Patch Retention, and the order back to the ads
Marketing sees every touch before and after Patch Retention, your team sees the source on the record it opens, and when the money arrives the amount goes back to the platform.
See every journey in LeadJourney
The dashboard marketing runs on
- Every touchpoint of every customer in one timeline, from the first anonymous click to the order Patch Retention records.
- First touch, last touch and every model in between, so a LinkedIn first click and a Google brand-search close are one journey, not two leads.
- Filter any campaign, ad or landing page to the leads it produced and the order each one placed.
- The same journey written onto the Contact in Patch Retention, so your team sees where a lead came from before the first call.
Send it back to the ad platforms
Where the bidding learns from revenue
- An order Patch Retention records becomes a purchase event on Meta, Google Ads, LinkedIn and Microsoft, matched on the click ID captured at the first visit.
- The order total travels with the event, so value based bidding optimises on revenue rather than on form fills.
- You choose which events go back: opt-in, first order, every repeat order, or all of them.
- Sent server to server, so there is nothing for an ad blocker or a declined cookie banner to remove.
How it works
Patch Retention data in, attributed revenue back out
Both directions run on their own once connected. The first is what makes attribution across every channel possible at all. The second puts the answer on the contact your team already messages.
1 Pull your customers and orders into LeadJourney
Your Patch data meets the acquisition data it was always missing.

LeadJourney reads your Contacts, Campaigns and Orders, with order value, order count and the campaign an order followed, as each record changes.
Ad clicks, spend, sessions, forms and click IDs are tracked server-side across paid, organic and AI search.
LeadJourney joins the two into one journey per contact, from the first anonymous click through the first order to every repeat order Patch records.
Attributed revenue, repeat revenue, ROAS and cost per first order, per channel, campaign and ad.
2 Write the Patch Retention attribution onto every contact
So nobody opens a second tool to answer where a customer came from.
LeadJourney writes the finished attribution onto the Patch contact, only into the fields you mapped.

First touch, last touch, campaign, ad and click ID land as fields on the contact, next to the opt-in and order data Patch already holds.
Segments and automations pick them up like any other field: group repeat revenue by acquisition channel, or build a flow for customers who came from paid social.
Your team sees where a customer came from on the contact they already message, and marketing sees the lifetime revenue against the ad.
The return path
Patch Retention orders, back in the ad account that earned them
A form fill is not a result. Once Patch records the order, and every repeat order after it, the amount goes back to the platform that produced the click.
MetaConversions API
Contact created, first order and repeat order, with value and currency
Google AdsOffline conversion import
Conversions matched on gclid, with the order value for value based bidding
LinkedIn AdsConversions API
Opt-ins and order revenue matched on li_fat_id
Microsoft AdsOffline conversions
Conversions matched on msclkid, with the order value
TikTok AdsEvents API
Server-side lead and purchase events
You choose what counts as a conversion
Map any Patch event to any platform event. Opted in, first order, repeat order, or all three.
Value based bidding gets the real order value
The order value travels with the event, and repeat orders keep adding to it, so tROAS strategies optimise on customers who come back instead of a flat lead value.
Sent server to server
No pixel to fire, nothing for an ad blocker or a declined cookie banner to remove.
Reporting
The questions Patch Retention's dashboards cannot answer yet
Every one of these is a report in LeadJourney rather than a data export. Patch stays the source of truth for the customer and the order, and LeadJourney supplies the source that produced them.
Which campaign brought the customers who ordered again last quarter, not just the first orders?
What did a first order actually cost us in ad spend, per channel?
Which channel brings the customers with the highest repeat revenue, even when a text campaign closes each order?
How much order revenue came from ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini last month?
Which landing page produces the contacts that place a second order?
Which campaigns buy opt-ins that never place an order?
LeadJourney and Patch Retention dashboards
Where Patch Retention's dashboards end and LeadJourney starts
Patch's dashboards report revenue per text and email campaign and what was ordered after it. The click before the contact existed is not in Patch.

It is not either or
Keep Patch as the system that talks to your customers and keep its dashboards for the campaigns it sends. LeadJourney fills in the acquisition side underneath, adds the spend, and hands every order to the platforms where the budget is spent.

“Before LeadJourney, we had no reliable tracking concept for our five-figure ad spend. We were manually building spreadsheet and CRM reports, inaccurate and time-consuming. Within two days, everything was set up. For the first time, I know exactly what I pay per lead and which campaigns actually bring in the best-qualified prospects.”
Florian BuckCEO, Klickkraft GmbH “With LeadJourney we are able to track all our leads and connect them with sales and attribution data to make better decisions. In the first month of using it we scaled from 0 to 100k revenue from paid ads only.”

FAQ
What Patch Retention users ask before connecting
If yours is not here, our team answers in the chat within a few minutes.
How is this different from the revenue Patch already attributes to a campaign?
Patch credits an order to the text or email sent before it, which is the right answer for the retention side and stays exactly as it is. LeadJourney answers the question before that one: which ad, search or referral made the person a contact, what it cost, and how much every order since is worth against that spend. The two sit on the same contact, so a report can show both the acquisition channel and the campaign that drove each order.
Does Patch Retention attribution include the ad that brought the customer, not only the message before the order?
With LeadJourney, yes. Every visit is tracked server-side before the contact exists, the first click is stitched to the contact at form submit or at checkout, and source, campaign and ad are written onto the contact automatically. From then on every order Patch records, first and repeat, is credited to the journey that started it as well as to the message that preceded it.
Which fields does LeadJourney write into Patch Retention?
On the contact: first and last touch channel, source and campaign, the ad, ad set and creative, every UTM parameter, the click ID from each platform, the landing page and referrer, the acquisition channel as a field your segments can key off, the ad spend attributed to the first order, and a link to the full journey. You choose which of those are in scope before anything is written.
Will it overwrite fields or segments my team already relies on?
No. Nothing is written to a field you have not mapped, and the direction of every mapping is yours to set. By default attribution goes to dedicated LeadJourney custom fields, and your existing fields, segments and automations are left untouched, so the reports you already run stay comparable.
Are repeat orders sent back to Meta and Google, or only the first one?
Every order. The first order is sent to Meta through the Conversions API, to Google Ads as an offline conversion import matched on gclid, to LinkedIn through the Conversions API and to Microsoft Ads matched on msclkid, with the order value attached. Each repeat order follows as a further purchase event with its own value, so value based bidding learns which ads bring customers who come back rather than customers who buy once.
How quickly does an order reach the ad platforms?
As it happens. An order Patch records, a contact opting in, a refund, each reaches LeadJourney straight away and fires the matching conversion to the platform that produced the click. Transparent Logs show every event that was sent and when.
A customer orders again months after the first click. Is it still attributed?
Yes. The journey in LeadJourney has no attribution window, so a repeat order in month nine is credited to the ad that brought the customer in month one, and the report shows revenue per acquisition channel growing over time. The ad platforms apply their own windows to the events they receive, so a late order mainly improves their optimisation; the report that matches lifetime revenue to the ad lives in LeadJourney and on the Patch contact.
Does it work with the store or point of sale my orders come from?
LeadJourney reads the orders Patch holds, whichever store, checkout or point of sale they came from, so nothing else has to be connected for the revenue side. If you also run Shopify or Stripe, those integrations can sit alongside and the same order is never counted twice.
Do I need a developer?
No. Connecting Patch Retention is a sign in and a field mapping screen, and most accounts are live in about 21 minutes. The one line of code goes into your site or store theme, or into your GTM container, and our team will do the mapping with you on a call if you prefer.
Is the Patch Retention sync GDPR compliant?
Yes. Data is processed and stored in the EU, we sign a data processing agreement, and tracking runs first-party and server-side so it respects consent decisions rather than working around them. Opt-in and opt-out decisions stay in Patch and are read, never changed. Financial, legal and other regulated industries are a core part of our customer base.
What does it cost?
The Patch Retention integration is part of the platform rather than a paid add on. Plans are priced on tracked events instead of seats, so your whole team and your agency can share one workspace, and every plan starts with a 14 day free trial without a credit card.
