Use case

The click was on a phone. The signup was on a laptop. The journey is one.

Cookies live on one device. LeadJourney stitches the touchpoints into one journey when the lead identifies, so the first click gets the credit.

Same person, same signup. The difference is that the phone's touchpoints and the laptop's signup belong to one journey instead of two strangers.

The problem

Every new device starts a stranger, and your best campaigns pay for it

Browser tracking stores its identity in a cookie, and a cookie never leaves its device. The phone that clicked the ad and the laptop that signed up cannot share one, so the journey is cut exactly where the credit should flow.

Why the journey splits in two

Identity lives in a per-device cookie

  • Cookies are stored per browser, per device. The phone that clicked and the laptop that signed up never share one.
  • Analytics counts the laptop as a new user on a Direct session, because that is genuinely all it can see.
  • Mobile-first channels take the damage: the feed is scrolled on a phone, the form is filled at a desk.
  • Device bridging in browser analytics depends on the visitor being signed in to the same account on both devices, which you can neither count on nor verify per lead.
  • Retargeting treats the two devices as two people, so one of them keeps seeing ads for a signup that already happened.
  • So mobile campaigns look like they produce cheap clicks and nothing else, and budget quietly drifts to last-touch channels.

The same journeys with LeadJourney

Touchpoints stitched when the lead identifies

  • Every session is tracked server-side from the first anonymous click, on whichever device it happens.
  • When the lead identifies, by submitting a form or booking a call, their touchpoints are stitched into one journey.
  • The mobile ad click keeps its click ID, so the phone touch resolves to the exact campaign and ad.
  • The journey survives devices and sessions at 95%+ accuracy, with no cookie asked to travel between machines.
  • The stitched journey is written back to the CRM record, so sales and reports see one person, not two.
  • Mobile campaigns get credit for the desktop signups they started, so the budget split reflects reality.

The fix

One journey in our dashboard, one person in your CRM

Two places, one identity. Marketing reads whole journeys in LeadJourney, devices included. The CRM record carries the stitched source, so the phone click that started everything is on the same record as the deal it produced.

See the whole journey in LeadJourney

Devices joined into one timeline

  • Every lead's journey laid out touchpoint by touchpoint, the phone clicks and the laptop sessions on one timeline.
  • The mobile ad click carries its click ID, so the first touch resolves to the exact campaign, ad and creative.
  • Source reports credit the channel that started the journey, not the device that happened to finish it.
  • Filter any campaign to see the leads it produced, including the ones that converted on another device.

One person in the CRM and the reports

Where the split used to do its damage

  • Native integrations for HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Close, Attio and more, plus a webhook for everything else.
  • First touch, last touch, campaign and click ID from the stitched journey written onto the lead record.
  • Won deals flow back to Meta, Google and LinkedIn as conversions, credited to the campaign the phone click belongs to.
  • Sales sees where the lead really came from before the first call, instead of a Direct signup out of nowhere.

What changes

The questions two half-journeys could never answer

Every one of these is a report in LeadJourney, not an identity project. Your CRM stays the source of truth for the pipeline, and LeadJourney supplies the journey behind each record, whichever devices it crossed.

  • Which mobile campaigns produced the signups my analytics credits to Direct?

  • How many of our leads start on a phone and convert on a desktop?

  • Which channel really started each journey, whatever device finished it?

  • What does a lead from each campaign cost once cross-device signups are counted?

  • How many touchpoints does a lead collect before converting, across all their devices?

  • Which campaigns look weak on last click and strong once the journey is whole?

FAQ

What teams ask before trusting one journey per lead

If yours is not here, our team answers in the chat within a few minutes.

Why does my analytics show two users when someone switches devices?

Because browser tracking stores identity in a cookie, and a cookie never leaves its device. The phone that clicked the ad holds one identity, the laptop that signed up holds another, and nothing connects them. Analytics is not wrong, it is reporting exactly what a per-device cookie can see.

How does LeadJourney track people across devices?

Sessions are tracked server-side on every device from the first anonymous click, each with its own touchpoints and click IDs. When the lead identifies, by submitting a form or booking a call, those touchpoints are stitched into one journey on the lead's record. The credit for the signup then reaches the mobile click that earned it.

What does "when the lead identifies" mean?

The moment a visitor becomes a lead you can name: a form submission, a booked call or another conversion event on your site. That is the point where the journey attaches to a person, and where the touchpoints that led up to it are stitched together.

What happens to the touchpoints from before the lead identified?

They are already recorded. Anonymous sessions are tracked server-side from the first click, so the phone touchpoints exist before the lead does. Identification is what joins them to the record; it is not the moment tracking starts.

Does cross-device tracking work without third-party cookies?

Yes. Tracking runs server-side with first-party identifiers on your own domain, so it does not depend on a third-party cookie surviving on either device, and ad blockers and iOS do not interrupt it. That is what keeps accuracy at 95%+.

Is stitching journeys across devices GDPR compliant?

Yes. The identity involved is the one the lead gave you themselves by filling in your form, joined to visits on your own site. Data is processed and stored in the EU, we sign a data processing agreement, and tracking runs first-party and server-side, so it respects consent decisions rather than working around them.

How long does setup take, and do I need a developer?

About 21 minutes, and no. You paste one snippet, connect your ad accounts and your CRM, and the journeys start recording on every device from that moment.
