The gap
CallRail knows which campaign made the phone ring. It never learns what the call was worth.
Call tracking answers the question it was built for: which source, campaign and keyword produced this call. The deal closes weeks later, inside your CRM, and the ad platforms only ever hear that a phone rang.
CallRail attribution on its own
Accurate about the call, blind to the deal behind it
- Dynamic number insertion ties each call to the session that dialled, so source, campaign, landing page and, on Google Ads, the keyword are known when the phone rings.
- The record ends when the call ends. Whether the caller became a customer three weeks later lives in your CRM, outside the call report.
- The value on a call is the one an agent, a rule or Conversation Intelligence assigns to it, not the amount your CRM eventually closes.
- Calls reach Google Ads as conversions with that assigned value, so bidding learns which keywords produce calls rather than which produce revenue.
- The journey is the one the tracked visitor takes on your site. The LinkedIn post, the AI search answer and the organic session on another device sit outside it.
- Calls, texts and tracked forms are one record. The demo booked in Calendly, the webinar seat and the payment are other tools' records, so one customer is counted several times.
- Cost per lead is calculated where CallRail can read the spend. Cost per closed deal across every channel is a spreadsheet exercise.
CallRail with LeadJourney
One journey per caller, from the first click to the closed deal
- Every tracked call arrives as a conversion with the source, campaign, keyword, duration and qualified status CallRail recorded.
- The call is stitched to the visitor's full journey: the ad click, the organic session weeks earlier, the AI search answer, on every device.
- The caller is followed through your CRM stage by stage, and the won amount lands on the campaign and keyword that made the phone ring.
- Qualified calls and won deals go back to Google, Meta, LinkedIn and Microsoft Ads with the deal value, so bidding learns which calls become revenue.
- Every channel is measured in one model: paid, organic search, organic social, AI search and the direct call, side by side.
- The call, the form fill, the booked demo and the payment land on the same lead, so a channel is charged once for one customer.
- Spend is pulled from every connected ad account, so cost per call, per qualified call and per closed deal are live at 95%+ accuracy.
How it works
CallRail attribution joined to the journey, then to the deal
Both run on their own once connected: the first turns a phone call into a conversion with a journey behind it, the second gives that call a value and hands it to the ad platforms.
1 Every tracked call becomes a conversion with its journey attached
CallRail attributes the call. LeadJourney adds everything that happened before it.
Visits, click IDs and form fills are tracked server-side across paid, organic and AI search, before anyone picks up a phone.

The call arrives with the source, campaign, keyword, duration and qualified status CallRail recorded for it.
LeadJourney matches the call to the session that dialled and stitches it to the visitor's full journey, including the clicks weeks earlier.
Cost per call and per qualified call, by channel, campaign, keyword and landing page, next to form fills and bookings.
2 From the call to the closed deal, and back to the ad account
So the platforms optimise on callers who buy, not on calls.
The caller becomes a lead in your CRM, and LeadJourney reads stage changes, deal value and closed won as they happen.
The won amount is placed on the call, and on the campaign, keyword and channel that produced it.
Qualified calls and won deals go back as offline conversions, matched on the click ID with the deal value attached.
Bidding learns which keywords and audiences produce callers who buy, so call quality rises and the price per qualified call falls.
The return path
Qualified calls and won deals, back in the ad account that made the phone ring
A ring is not a result. Once a call is qualified in CallRail, and once the caller's deal is won in your CRM, the amount goes back to the platform that produced the click.

You choose what counts as a conversion
Map the tracked call, the qualified call or the won deal to any platform event, or all three at their own stages.
Value based bidding gets a real value
The deal amount from your CRM travels with the event, so tROAS strategies optimise on revenue instead of a flat value per call.

Reporting
The questions a call report cannot answer yet
Every one of these is a report in LeadJourney rather than an export. CallRail stays where your calls are tracked and recorded, and LeadJourney shows what the calls produced.
Which campaigns and keywords produce calls that become customers, not just calls?
What does a qualified call cost us on Google Ads compared with Meta and Microsoft Ads?
Which landing pages make the phone ring, and which of those callers reach a deal?
How many of last month's callers came from an organic search or an AI answer first?
Which channel starts the journeys that end in a phone call, even when the last click is a brand search?
How much revenue did phone calls produce last quarter, by channel?
LeadJourney and CallRail's own attribution
Where CallRail's call attribution ends and LeadJourney starts
CallRail ties the call to its session, source, campaign and keyword, and that stays. Its view ends when the call does.

“Before LeadJourney, we had no reliable tracking concept for our five-figure ad spend. We were manually building spreadsheet and CRM reports, inaccurate and time-consuming. Within two days, everything was set up. For the first time, I know exactly what I pay per lead and which campaigns actually bring in the best-qualified prospects.”
Florian BuckCEO, Klickkraft GmbH “With LeadJourney we are able to track all our leads and connect them with sales and attribution data to make better decisions. In the first month of using it we scaled from 0 to 100k revenue from paid ads only.”

FAQ
What CallRail users ask before connecting
If yours is not here, our team answers in the chat within a few minutes.
How is this different from CallRail attribution on its own?
CallRail attribution answers which source, campaign and keyword produced a call, and it does that well. LeadJourney starts from that call and adds the two halves CallRail does not cover: the journey before the tracked visit, across every channel and device, and the deal after the call, read from your CRM. The result is a call with a full journey and a real value, which CallRail alone cannot show and the ad platforms otherwise never learn.
How does LeadJourney connect to CallRail?
You connect your CallRail account from the integrations screen in LeadJourney, without a developer. From then on every tracked call arrives in LeadJourney as a conversion with the source data CallRail recorded for it. Your tracking numbers, number pools and CallRail integrations stay exactly as they are.
Which call data comes through?
The call itself with its time and duration, whether it was answered or missed, and the attribution CallRail assigned: source, campaign, landing page and keyword where CallRail has it. Tags and the qualified status come through too, so a qualified call can be treated as its own conversion stage. The recording and the transcript stay in CallRail.
Does it work with dynamic number insertion and keyword-level tracking?
Yes, and it depends on it. Dynamic number insertion is what ties a call to the session that dialled, and LeadJourney takes that session and joins it to the visitor's journey it has already been tracking server-side. Where CallRail knows the Google Ads keyword, the keyword lands on the journey as well, so cost per closed deal can be reported per keyword.
CallRail already sends calls to Google Ads. Why connect LeadJourney too?
Keep it if it works for you. CallRail sends the call as it happens, with the value assigned in CallRail. LeadJourney sends what happens afterwards: the qualified stage and the won deal, with the amount from your CRM, and it sends them to Meta, LinkedIn, Microsoft and TikTok as well as Google. You choose which stages LeadJourney sends, so each conversion is counted once in the account and bidding optimises on revenue rather than on rings.
Can a phone call be attributed to a Meta or LinkedIn ad?
Yes. The visit before the call is tracked server-side with its click ID, whichever platform it came from, and the call is matched to that visit. A caller who clicked a LinkedIn ad on Monday, searched your brand on Thursday and then dialled is credited under whichever attribution model you have active, with both touches on the record.
The caller becomes a customer six weeks later. Is the call still attributed?
Yes. The journey has no window, so when your CRM marks the deal won six weeks after the call, the won amount is placed on the call and on the campaign and keyword that produced it. The ad platforms apply their own attribution settings to the events they receive, so late deals mainly improve optimisation there. The report that matches revenue to the call lives in LeadJourney.
Do I need a developer?
No. The tracking script is one line in your site or GTM container, connecting CallRail and your CRM is done from the integrations screen, and mapping call stages to platform events is a settings screen. Most accounts are live in about 21 minutes, and our team will do the setup with you on a call if you prefer.
Is call attribution with LeadJourney GDPR compliant?
Yes. LeadJourney reads the call's source data and outcome, not the recording or the transcript, and those stay in CallRail under your existing consent setup. LeadJourney itself processes and stores data in the EU, signs a data processing agreement, and tracks first-party and server-side, so consent decisions are respected rather than worked around.
What does it cost?
The CallRail integration is part of the platform rather than a paid add on. Plans are priced on tracked events instead of seats, so your whole team and your agency can share one workspace, and every plan starts with a 14 day free trial without a credit card.
